Efremova Tamara Timofeevna, born 27 February 1937, in the farm-stead of Bol'shenabatovskiyKalachyovsky DistrictVolgograd OblastSoviet Union (since 1992 – Russia). Graduated from Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical Institute (at the present time – V. P. Astafiev Krasnoyasrsk State Pedagogical University), Faculty of Natural Sciences and Chemistry (at the present time – Faculty of Biology, Geography, and Chemistry), with a specialty in Chemistry and Biology, qualification Teacher of Chemistry, Biology and Bases of Agriculture, in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Soviet Union (1960). Candidate (PhD, 1971) and Doctor (DSc, 1991) of Biological Sciences in Soil Science. PhD thesis: «Izmenenie Organicheskogo Veshchestva Torfyanykh Pochv pod Vliyaniem Osusheniya i Estestvennogo Obleseniya (na Primere Nizinnykh Bolot Tomskoy Oblasti)» (Changes in the Organic Matter of Peat Soils under Influence of Drainage and Natural Afforestation (on the Example of Lowland Swamps of Tomsk Oblast), Novosibirsk, United Sci. Br., in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia (1991-present). Research interests in carbon biogeochemistry and transformation of organic matter in the peat soils, principles of structure formation in forest peat soils, the evolution of soil environment on forest swamps under the influence of reclamation, peat fires and industrial emissions, soil factors of wetland forest productivity, the spatial variation of the types and properties of litter by methods of geostatistical analysis, the evaluation of edaphic factor role in the formation of the chemical composition of bog water. Expert in ecology of forest wetlands. Author and co-author of more than 250 scientific publications, including three books. Some of them: «Soils formation under the natural afforestation of drained bogs»; «Structure formation in the peat soils», Novosibirsk, 1992 (in Russian); «Carbon in the forest ecosystems and wetlands of Russia», Krasnoyarsk, 1994 (in Russian and in English).
